Mr. Poppenger was born May 9, 1948, in Van Nuys California, the son of Cliff and Dorothy Hummel Poppenger. He was retired from the United States Army. He was a Vietnam veteran. Survivors include two sons Jeff Poppenger of Belton and David Poppenger of Houston; one daughter Tammy Foster of Belton; one sister Sharon Poppenger of Santa Fe, Texas and 11 grandchildren.
