Jeanne Ruth Doll Nellis-Speed of Temple, Texas was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She entered into her heavenly Father’s arms on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 97 years young.

She was born Nov. 5, 1928, in Verdigre, Nebraska, to Lawson Ross Doll and Violet Ruth Ingles Pierce Doll. She married the love of her life, Elwood Frank Nellis on August 29, 1950, in Mitchell, South Dakota and later married Charles T. Speed III on December 7, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elwood Frank Nellis, Charles T. Speed III, her son-in-law Rev. Michael J. Sapp, parents and siblings, Lawson Doll, Orpha Doll, David Doll, Meredith Doll, Grace Doll, Maxiene Pierce Faith, Vernon Pierce.

She graduated in 1950 from the nursing diploma program at Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Mitchell, South Dakota. She worked in rural clinics and hospitals for over twenty years, and became the Director of Nurses in Tyndall, South Dakota. In 1972, the family moved to Central Texas and she continued her nursing career at the Central Texas VA Hospital with an emphasis in cardiac care lasting twenty-five years.

She is survived by her three daughters, Pam Flowers and Ken of Garland, Sharon Sapp of Temple and Janese Baugh and Bruce of Belton; her sister, LaVonne Doll Hines of Wessington Springs, South Dakota; seven grandchildren, Julie Davis (Pablo) of Santa Barbara, California; Chad Sapp (Tammy) of Temple, Texas; Cheryl Vandervort (Stephen) of Portland, Oregon, Stephanie Martinka (Matt) of Bartlett, Texas, Kirsten Dildine (Josh) of Salado, Texas, Karen Campbell (Stuart) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Samuel Davis of Brownsville, Texas; and 13 great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison, McKenzie, Landon, Wyatt, Clara, Lincoln, Weston, Hazel, Easton, Rory, August and Elsie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nazarene Church in Belton, or the American Heart Association.
