It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Craig Monteleone, who was called home by our dear Lord on July 7, 2025, at the age of 66. Born in Harrison Township, Pennsylvania, on May 8, 1959, John lived a life defined by strength, selflessness, hard work, and unwavering love for his family and country. Shortly after graduating high school, John answered a noble call to serve and joined the United States Army. During his 14 years of service, he worked as a Power Generation Repairer and served proudly with NATO. His dedication to his duties and his brothers and sisters in arms was unwavering. His time in the military instilled in him a discipline and work ethic that carried through the rest of his life. After honorably leaving the Army, John transitioned into civilian life, working first with Douglas Battery for nine years before taking on a new chapter with Lock Joint Tube Texas. It was during this time that fate brought Deidra into his life the woman who would become the love of his life and his devoted wife. With Deidra, John found not only love but also purpose as a stepfather to three sons: Steven, Glenn, and Marcus, all of whom he loved as his own.
John worked faithfully for 24 years at Lock Joint Tube Texas until his retirement, which came earlier than expected due to a courageous battle with terminal lung cancer. Even in the face of illness, John remained steadfast in his faith, his love for his family, and his resolve to make the most of each day. John had a passion for hot rods and could often be found in his garage, building, remodeling, or lending a hand to anyone in need. He had a gift for fixing things, not just with his hands, but with his heart. Whether it was a broken engine, a struggling neighbor, or a hurting soul John showed up. His kindness and generosity left a mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deidra Monteleone, of Texas; his beloved stepsons, Steven Ketcham and wife Candi, Glenn Ketcham and wife Ginger, and Marcus Ketcham and wife Alyssa; and seven cherished grandchildren, all of Texas, who will carry his legacy forward with pride. John also leaves behind his mother, Mirriem Monteleone, of Texas, and his sister, Tracy Rebick, of Florida. John was welcomed into eternal rest by those who went before him: his father, John Monteleone, his sister, Wendy Langford, and his grandparents from both sides of the family whose love surely embraced him upon his arrival in Heaven.
Though our hearts ache with the loss of a remarkable man, we find comfort in the incredible life he lived, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. John Craig Monteleone’s legacy is one of service, strength, humility, and heart a true soldier, a devoted husband, a beloved stepfather and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man of deep character and conviction. His journey on this earth may be complete, but his spirit lives on in every engine that roars, in every act of kindness, and in every heart he touched. Rest easy, John.
