Dr. Lawrence Barenholtz, 82, of Temple, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, peacefully in his home.

Born and raised in Detroit, MI along with his three younger siblings until graduating high school, going off to attend the University of Michigan Medical School graduating in 1969. He then went on to complete his residency at the University New Mexico Hospital where he met the love of his life, Prissy. After living in Taos and marrying, they moved to Utah where they settled and began to raise their family.

Later on they made the move to Temple. Larry began working at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. He then became part of the Internal Medicine Department at Baylor Scott & White from 1992 till he retired in 2013. He practiced medicine for a combined 57 years.

After traveling the world and enjoying retirement for a few years, Larry unselfishly dedicated 10 years of this life caring for his one true love, Prissy at their home until her passing in 2024.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend Prissy and his parents Benjamin and Jane Barenholtz.

He is survived by his daughter, Lara Sevey and husband, Kevin; son, Ben Barenholtz; brothers, Jerry Barenholtz (Ellen Karpinski) and Allen Barenholtz; sister, Eve Barenholtz (Bruce Ballard) three grandchildren, Alayna Sevey, Zachary Sevey, and Erik Barenholtz.

A memorial service to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Lawrence Barenholtz will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Dossman Funeral Home, located at 2525 N Main St, Belton, Texas.

Dr. Barenholtz’s life embodied dedication to his profession and profound love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of compassionate care and personal integrity that will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
