Mr. Dalby passed away peacefully at his home in Belton on the evening of June 16, 2025, surrounded by family, friends and his dogs.

Born on November 3, 1943, in Lamesa, Texas, Perry was the son of Francis and Farris Dalby. On April 17, 1977, he married Barbara Coward, in Belton. Together, they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage.

MG Perry V. Dalby proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 until his retirement in 2004. He completed his distinguished military career as Major General commanding the 75th Training Division in Houston, Texas. He began his service as an Infantryman and Aviator and rose to the rank of General Officer in 1996. His career was marked by valor and dedication, including service in Vietnam, graduating as the honor graduate of his Ranger class, and maintaining close connections with the soldiers he led.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma Christian University and later received a master’s degree from the University of Southern California.

Perry was a man of deep integrity and warmth who found great joy in spending time with his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Dalby; his children, Dallas Dalby and wife Jaynell, John Dalby and wife Nicole, and Elaine Dalby and husband Ross Carter; his brother, Dickie Dalby and wife Genita; his sister, Nancy West; and his beloved grandchildren, Grayson, Addison, Landon, Madelyn, Avery, and Britten.

Perry embraced life fully, enjoying simple pleasures like fishing, playing golf, and monthly poker games with his dear friends. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his family and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, in honor of Perry’s lifelong commitment to his fellow servicemen and women.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
