Born on February 7, 1928, in Dallas, Texas, to her parents William Silas Agnew and Minnie Attalene Byrd Agnew, Sue lived a life that exemplified love, kindness, and dedication.
With an impressive career spanning over 40 years in retail, Sue was known for her unwavering commitment to her work and her engaging spirit that drew customers in. She embraced life with a warm heart and an unmatched sweetness, and her reputation as a loving mother and Gran Gran made her cherished by those who knew her.
Sue's greatest love was her family. She was married for 72 years to Joe Glen Heflin, who predeceased her, and together they fostered a home filled with support and nurturing. Their bond was deeply evident, as Sue often enjoyed dressing to match her husband—an outward expression of their enduring partnership.
In addition to her devotion to her family, Sue also contributed many years as a pastor's wife, supporting her husband's ministry with grace and fervor. Music played a significant role in her life; she enjoyed playing the piano, bringing joy to gatherings and celebrations. She also loved to do an array of arts and crafts. And she had a deep love to share her keen eye of fashion. Whether it was welcome or not. It was always in love and good fun of course!
Sue is survived by her son, Glen Heflin (Janet); her daughters, Susan Harris (Larry) and Carol Clements (Michael); her grandchildren, Michelle Hudson (Nooner), Scott Heflin (Tisha), Crissi Heflin, Joe Heflin (Justine), AJ Sommer (Rhonda), and Brett Sommer (Kristin); as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, with one more sweet addition on the way.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Glen Heflin; her parents; her brother, William Agnew, Jr.; her sister, Vivian Greer; and her grandson, Michael Harris.
Sue will be remembered for her loving nature, her sense of style as a fashionista, and her remarkable ability to create a vibrant and supportive family environment. Her memory will surely live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Sue's legacy of love and kindness will be dearly missed but will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Park Place Manor in Belton for their kindness, love and care of their mother and Gran Gran.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Bethel Church, Operation Christmas Child missions project, P O Box 952, Killeen, Tx 76540.
