Michael Roy
Parker
August 24, 1950 – April 4, 2026
Michael Roy Parker, 75, of Belton, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Funeral services for Mike, or Pop as most knew him, will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Pastor Matt Thrasher officiating. Burial will be private.
Mike was born on August 24, 1950 at Sewell-Long Hospital in Belton to the late Dee Davis and Clara Elizabeth (Dunn) Parker. He began living in the area that is now the Stillhouse Hollow Dam and Reservoir until the construction of the lake forced his family to move. The family relocated to Salado for a short time before eventually settling in Belton where Mike attended Belton schools. He was a gifted baseball player and was a proud member of the Marching 100 where he played trumpet. After high school, he accepted a music scholarship to the University of North Texas in Denton. In 1970, Mike left Denton, moved back to Belton, and enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served for 7 years. He married his longtime girlfriend Sarah (Sally) Heard on May 30, 1970 at the First United Methodist Church in Belton. Their marriage would be a union that would last for just a few days short of 55 years when Sally passed away on May 25, 2025. They celebrated a total of 63 years together prior to her passing, a true testament to how much they were in love.
Mr. Parker began working for Belton Sand & Gravel around 1970 and soon after moved over to the ready-mix concrete division with Cen-Tex Ready Mix. This would be the beginning of a 54- year career in the concrete industry in and around the Central Texas area where he managed multiple operations over the years. In 1995, Mike, Dick Prater, and Mike’s oldest son Chris Parker would form Belcrete Ready Mix in Belton. With the help of many great people and faithful customers, the company would see many years of success. Pop finally retired in December 2024 to spend time with Sally as her health failed, but he never failed to help people throughout the industry. His knowledge of the markets, the trends, and ultimately of the industry were often sought out by the younger generation and he really enjoyed sharing his experience with them.
Mike’s professional life was only a small part of what really drove him. His love for his wife and family took precedence over everything else. Mike and Sally were blessed with three children; Chris, Ben, and Rachel. Beyond their biological kids, Mike and Sally would welcome into their home numerous “adopted” kids as they would say. The Parker Family meals consisted of no less than 20 people and the Parker parties drew a much larger crowd. Pop loved big gatherings and loved cooking BBQ. He never met a stranger and everyone was welcome. In our opinion, Pop’s BBQ was the best around.
Pop was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Sally, and brothers Billy Dee Parker and Kenneth Parker. He is survived by his son Chris Parker and his wife Jannell; Ben Parker and his wife Melanie; his daughter Rachel Parker, and son Eric O’Braden and his wife Cheri. Also surviving are grandchildren Emily Hohertz and her husband Hagen; Taylor Keaton and her husband Joseph; Michael Parker; Gavin Humphries; Logan Parker; Parker Humphries, and Matthew Parker, as well as great-granddaughter Kodi Keaton and soon to be great-grandson Hollis Hohertz, as well as step-grandchildren Riley Lawhon and Logan Lawhon.
