◆
Ronald C.Y. “Ronnie” Rhoades passed away on September 17, 2026, in Temple, Texas, leaving behind a life defined by faith, family, service, and skilled craftsmanship. Born in Central Texas on October 21, 1944, Ronnie carried with him the values of honesty, generosity, grace, and steadfast devotion throughout his life.
Ronnie served honorably in the United States Army for seven years. He attained the rank of Sergeant, E5, while serving in Vietnam. In a remarkable reflection of his dedication and ability, he was promoted five times in a single year. His military service exemplified the courage, discipline, and commitment that remained hallmarks of his character.
A gifted welder and metalworker, Ronnie founded and owned Ronnie’s Welding Shop in Belton, Texas. He was known as a highly skilled craftsman who was honest to a fault. Through welding, repair, and building, he used his talents to solve problems and help others, earning the trust and respect of those who knew his work.
Faith stood at the center of Ronnie’s life. An ordained minister, he faithfully pastored the Free Pentecostal Church of Jesus in Belton for 32 years. His spiritual wisdom and example reached far beyond the church, shaping the lives of church members, family members, and others who looked to him for guidance.
Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife, Christine “Deanie” Rhoades. Ronnie and Christine were married on October 28, 1960, and shared a lifetime devoted to family, faith, friendship, and service. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanne Isdale of Harker Heights, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.Y. Rhoades and Mary Alice Tutor Rhoades, and by his sisters, Naomi Lewis and Barbara Saxton.
Although Ronnie and Christine did not have children of their own, they lovingly helped raise, guide, and mentor many nieces and nephews. Their lives were forever enriched by Ronnie’s spiritual guidance, wisdom, generosity, grace, and unconditional love.
Ronnie will be remembered as a devoted husband, brother, uncle, veteran, pastor, craftsman, mentor, and friend. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the people he served, the faith he shared, and the countless lives made better by his steady presence and loving example.
