Wanda Kay Hamby, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, in Temple, Texas, at the age of 80. A memorial service will be held in her honor on September 18, 2025, at Dossman Funeral Home starting at 10:00 AM.

She was born on September 5, 1945, in Austin, TX., to parents Fred Williams and Elizabeth Farmer Williams.

Wanda's journey in life blossomed when she met her husband, James Hamby, on a blind date that sparked a beautiful romance. The two were united in marriage on February 6, 1963, and shared an incredible bond that spanned an impressive 63 years. Throughout their years together, their partnership thrived through unwavering support and affection, becoming a cherished example of lasting love.

Wanda's deep love for her family was evident to all who knew her. She loved her role as a mother to her daughters, Nina and Gwinda, and son James showering them with unconditional love and grace. Her warmth extended to her grandchildren, as well as her great-grandchildren. Wanda fiercely loved her family and was a source of strength and joy in their lives. She loved sharing her hobbies with her family as well. A main one being dancing. She loved to dance.

Wanda is survived by her husband, James Hamby; her children, Nina, and Gwinda, and James; her siblings, Buddy Funderburgh, Billy Hanel, Betty Davis, Sis Walton, and Doris Funderburgh; as well as her grandchildren, Jere James, Randy Moore, Kayla Williams, Randa Casper and Maggie Hamby, and great-grandchildren, Easton Moore, Presley Moore, Braxton Gaskill, and MaeMae Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elizabeth Williams.
